A new report analyzes the swell of brewing and newly passed state campus sexual violence legislation. The report—from the Education Commission of the United States and NASPA:  Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education—focuses on four policy areas:

  • affirmative consent,
  • local law enforcement involvement,
  • transcript notation, and
  • the role of attorneys in the campus sexual violence response process.

Though most legislative initiatives in the central region have died, Illinois and Minnesota—along with New York, Virginia, North Carolina, California, and Hawaii—have passed new laws. Check out the Inside Higher Ed synopsis for the big picture and the full report for more detail and suggestions for your campus leaders.
