On 1 September 2015, the Bank of England  published the money and credit statistical release for July. The figures show that: 

  • Total lending to individuals increased by £3.9bn in July, compared to the average monthly increase of £3.3bn over the previous six months.
  • Lending securing on dwellings increased by £2.7bn, compared to the average monthly increase of £2.2bn over the previous six months.
  • Gross lending secured on dwellings was £18.5bn and repayments were £15.9bn.
  • The number of loan approvals for house purchase was 68,764 in July, compared to the average of 64,186 over the previous six months.
  • Consumer credit increase by £1.2bn in July, broadly in line with the average monthly increase over the previous six months. The three-month annualised and twelve-month growth rates were 8.3% and 7.5% respectively.
