Council and ECON confirm MLD 4: Following a request from the General Secretariat of the Council,  the Council was formally invited to approve, on 27 January, the latest and final compromise texts for the fourth Money Laundering Directive (MLD 4) and Wire Transfer Regulation, on the assumption the European Parliament also approves them. Both the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) and the Council approved the drafts on 27 January. Once the full Parliament also gives its approval (expected to be in March or April) and the Council has formally endorsed them, the laws will be adopted and Member States will have two years to implement them. Separately, the European legislators will open discussions on further preventing terrorist financing, starting at a meeting on 12 February. (Source:Council to Confirm MLD 4 and ECON Confirms MLD 4)
