The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) goes live today, Thursday 1 October 2015.  It is a hugely significant development in Irish employment law.

As of today, the following bodies no longer exist and the WRC takes over from them.

  • Labour Relations Commission
  • Rights Commissioner Service
  • Employment Appeals Tribunal
  • The Equality Tribunal
  • The National Employment Rights Authority (“NERA”)

From now on, there will be one single body, the WRC, dealing with all aspects of Irish employment law, with a single appeals body, the Labour Court.
