On 8 April 2015, the Council of the European Union published its “Position at first reading” on the Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (the Directive).

The Council has now passed what’s likely to be the final text of the Directive to the European Parliament, in the hope and expectation that it will be approved without amendment at second reading. The date for the second reading has not been set; but it’s likely to (a) coincide with the second reading of the Second Information Accompanying Transfers of Funds Regulation; and (b) take place in the relatively near term. (Our related blog about the Second Information Accompanying Transfers of Funds Regulation is here.)

The European Parliament’s legislative observatory file for the Directive is here. The Parliament will update this file when the anticipated date of second reading has been set.
