On July 24, 2012, Governor Cuomo signed legislation expanding the availability of tax credits for the film and television industry in New York by increasing the tax credits for post-production expenditures. S. 7244A-2011, A. 10244A-2011. Under the amended law, the Empire State Film Production Credit for postproduction work performed in New York increases from 10% to 30% in the New York metropolitan commuter transportation region (New York City and seven surrounding counties), and to 35% elsewhere in the State.
