PSR has published the information requests sent in relation to the Interchange Fee Regulation (IFR). Requests have gone to American Express, Diners Club International, JCB International, MasterCard, UnionPay International and Visa Europe, with responses expected by 3 December. PSR has asked each firm to tell it the value of UK domestic card-based payment transactions under their scheme between 9 September 2014 and 8 September 2015. PSR will use this information to calculate the market share of any scheme or schemes that might qualify for an exemption and communicate these findings before the interchange fee caps take effect on 9 December. To qualify for the exemption, the value of a scheme’s annual UK domestic transactions must be less than 3% of all card-based transactions in the UK. (Source:PSR Releases IFR Information Requests)
