On 10 November, the Pensions Regulator published a statement on employer-related investments (ERIs) aimed at trustees, employers and their advisers. In particular, the Regulator raised concerns that certain complex funding arrangements (for example, some limited partnership structures) may risk breaching the legal restrictions on ERIs.

Overall, the statement sets out general guidance on what the Regulator expects from trustees in these areas and also the factors which the Regulator will take into account before exercising its powers. For a more detailed look at the statement, please see our microsite.
