Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced March 20 up to $10 million available this year to demonstrate and deploy electric transportation technologies for cargo vehicles. The agency’s support for the development and demonstration of innovative vehicle technologies is helping to reduce the country’s reliance on gasoline and diesel and diversifying the nation’s energy portfolio. The funding opportunity is open to local governments and private companies, with federal funds matched in a 50 percent cost share; applications will be accepted until May 15, and at least one award will be maid by September 30.
