The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, Chief Justice of Canada, welcomes the appointment by Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Ms. Suzanne Côté to the Supreme Court of Canada. “Ms. Côté is appointed directly from the Bar of Quebec, after a distinguished career as an advocate,” said Chief Justice McLachlin. “She brings extensive expertise in commercial and civil law, as well as a wealth of experience in public law. I look forward to her contributions to the Court.”

Justice Côté’s appointment is effective on Dec. 1, 2014, and she will be sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court of Canada on a date to be announced.
