EP agrees MLD 4 progress: The fourth Money Laundering Directive (MLD4) has moved a step closer as EP has agreed with the Council that central beneficial ownership registers should be publicly accessible to those with a "legitimate interest". EP has also suggested changes to the current draft of the Directive to amend the provisions on personal data and clarify the need to take additional due diligence measures on source of wealth and source of funds when dealing with Politically Exposed Persons. However, MLD4 is not yet agreed - the Committee of Permanent Representatives in the Council and two key committees in the EP must agree it and only then can it go to full vote. This should happen in early 2015. (Source: EP Agrees MLD4 Progress)
