LEIROC has published a report on the Global Legal Entity Identifier System (GLEIS) and regulatory uses of the LEI in a letter to FSB. LEIROC informs FSB that the GLEIS is now in place. It also describes the results of a survey on LEI uses by the regulatory community and explores how these uses could be further encouraged. The report shows, among other things, that at least 48 final rules or public drafts, covering 40 jurisdictions, already use the LEI, including for the reporting of OTC derivatives and other transactions, reporting by supervised financial institutions, or to support enhanced disclosure of assets held in securitised products. However, LEIROC acknowledges that further progress towards universal coverage is needed to fully reap the collective benefits of the LEI. (Source: LEIROC Reports on GLEIS)
