The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has named several additional key staffers:
- Dr. John Fleming will serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health Technology, a new position for the agency. Dr. Fleming was formerly the U.S. Representative for Louisiana's 4th District and co-chair of the House GOP Doctors Caucus. Dr. Fleming is a board-certified family medicine physician.
- Roger Severino was appointed to lead the Office for Civil Rights. Severino most recent served as director of the DeVos Center for Religion and Civil Society at the Heritage Foundation. Previously, he was a trial attorney in the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division under former President George W. Bush.
The White House Office of Management and Budget named the following key staffer:
- Joe Grogan will serve as the Director of Health Programs. He previously led federal affairs for Gilead Sciences. He also served as an adviser to the Food and Drug Administration and led the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS during the George W. Bush administration.
The White House National Economic Council named the following key staffer:
- Brian Blase will serve as the top healthcare policy staffer. Blase was most recently a senior research fellow at George Mason University's Mercatus Center. He also served as a staffer for the House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform as well as the Senate Republican Policy Committee.
