On May 20, 2015, the U.S. International Trade Commission ("Commission") issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Touchscreen Controllers and Products Containing the Same (Inv. No. 337-TA-957).
The investigation is based on an April 21, 2015 complaint filed by Synaptics Inc. of San Jose, California alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain touchscreen controllers and products containing the same, e.g., smart phones, that infringe one or more claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 7,868,874; 8,338,724; 8,558,811; and 8,952,916. According to the Notice of Investigation, the Commission has identified Shenzhen Huiding Technology Co., Ltd. a/k/a Shenzhen Goodix Technology Co., Ltd. of China, Goodix Technology Inc. of San Diego, California, and BLU Products, Inc. of Doral, Florida as the respondents.
Lastly, Chief ALJ Bullock issued a notice indicating that Theodore R. Essex will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this matter.
