On 25 May 2017, a group of national gas network operators from 10 CEE countries announced the “Gas Regional Investment Plan” for 2017. The GRIP provides detailed information concerning future infrastructure investments in this sector.

Operators from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia were involved in the report.

GRIP is based on the Article 12(1) of Regulation (EU) No 715/2009 on conditions for access to the natural gas transmission networks.

This is already the third version of this regional plan for CEE, which is closely linked with the EU Ten-Year Network Development Plan for 2017. CEE GRIP 2017 is intended to complement TYNDP 2017 by providing information on natural gas supply scenarios, market integration and security of gas deliveries in the region.

The plan focuses on:

  • development of natural gas infrastructure in the CEE;
  • detailed analyses of the potential infrastructure development in terms of security of supply and market integration;
  • elaboration of a regional approach to gas supply scenarios;
  • significance of natural gas in the transport industry.

All interested entities are invited to participate in the CEE GRIP 2017 consultations and to take part in dedicated workshops to be held on 20 June 2017 in Prague. Any notices and suggestions to the plan and workshops application forms can be sent by 9 June 2017.
