On 6 April 2011, the European Commission (“Commission”) announced that it has launched infringement proceedings against Bulgaria and the Czech Republic in relation to their bilateral air service agreements with Russia. The Commission is concerned that the agreements may hinder competition between European airlines and involve arrangements between competitors that may infringe the EU antitrust rules. Similar infringement proceedings have already been launched against 23 other EU member states. Read more
