The Bar Councils have criticised several aspects of the proposals to introduce Deferred Prosecution Agreements (DPAs) for financial crime offences. In their joint response the Bar Councils say the consultation does not suggest what defendants might be selected for DPAs, what tools currently deal with the offence covered or how effective those tools are. The Bar Councils also express their disbelief that the paper makes no reference to FSA. They say there must be a proper assessment of the current UK situation before deciding on the benefits of introducing DPAs. (Source: Bar Councils Concerned About DPAs)
