A lawsuit involving the Ohio Attorney General’s allegation that Cargill and Morton Salt engaged in a conspiracy to buy the Ohio market for government contracts on road salt was recently resolved. According to a Cargill press release, “Cargill’s share of the settlement [payment] is $7.705 million, based on the amount of its salt sales in Ohio relative to Morton Salt.” While there was no admission of liability or wrongdoing, road salt is clearly serious business in Ohio.
