The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) has adopted an opinion on the draft General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which sets out its recommendations on the EU's option for data protection reform.

The opinion consists of the EDPS' vision for future orientated rules on data protection and emphasises that whilst it does not expect the outcome of the trilogues to be perfect, it views the legislative process as 'the art of possible'.

The EDPS aims to support the institutions with a view to ensuring that the GDPR results in a better deal for citizens, rules which will work in practice and last a generation.
