On 12 November 2015, President Obama signed an Executive Order terminating the sanctions aimed at members of the former Liberian regime of President Charles Taylor. The lifting of sanctions is based on the fact that Taylor is now serving a prison sentence imposed by the Special Court for Sierra Leone and President Obama’s determination that persons connected to Taylor’s former government have ‘diminished ability’ to ‘undermine Liberia’s progress.’ All entities and individuals who were placed on the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List under the Liberia-related sanctions have been removed from the list and are now unblocked.
