The head of a territorial capital construction financing department of the Russian Ministry of Defence, Mr Sergey Busov, has been detained for allegedly extorting a bribe of R1.7m (approximately $53,400).

It is alleged that in December 2011 Mr Busov demanded money from a representative of the Oboronenergo company in return for effecting a transfer for works performed by Oboronenergo for the Ministry of Defence.
