OFT has taken action to ensure airlines cannot surprise customers by adding charges for use of debit cards to their headline rates. OFT believes there should be no surcharges for using debit cards, and 12 airlines have agreed that any such charge will appear in headline rates. OFT accepts there may still be a charge for using credit cards, but the Government has said it plans to legislate to prevent excessive card surcharges.(Source: OFT Gets Airlines to Scrap Debit Card Surcharges)
