ASA has updated its procedures in relation to reliance placed on evidence that complainants supply in support of their objection. ASA will make an assessment during the investigation as to whether the information is relevant and, if it is, it will need to be disclosed. If a complainant does not wish to disclose their evidence, it will not form part of ASA’s assessment. This change allows advertisers a fair opportunity to respond fully to the objection.
