The saga surrounding high-powered magnetic products is far from over. Although Buckyballs, the most high-profile maker of high-powered magnetic products, agreed to recall their product earlier this year and is no longer in business, another manufacturer, Zen Magnets, has continued to fight. The trial on the CPSC’s proposed mandatory recall of Zen’s magnets started on December 1 before an administrative law judge. We will report on the results of the trial in the next Snapshot.

In addition to the trial, Zen has launched an aggressive social media campaign challenging both the proposed recall and the CPSC’s recent ban of certain high-powered small magnet sets. See Zen’s YouTube video, “The (CPSC) Epidemiology Elephant in the Room,” here.
