British Prime Minister Gordon Brown declared that it would be a “catastrophe” if a climate change agreement is not reached in Copenhagen this December. He made the declaration at a meeting of 17 major countries. Brown said if a deal is not reached, “it will be irretrievably too late.” He added that there is no plan B for the planet. Assuming that Brown is correct, it is unfortunate that reaching an international agreement on climate change in Copenhagen is not likely to occur. United States special envoy to climate change, Todd Stern said it’s “certainly possible” that no agreement will be reached.
