On 18 August the Government issued a consultation on the impact of the regulations on large public sector employers with responses required by 30 September 2016.
The new consultation contains some differences from the consultation previously published for the private and voluntary sector. The data to be published concerning bonus and use of quartiles is different in scope. It also suggests that the first calculation date will be 5 April 2017 (rather than 30 April 2017 as stated in the previous consultation paper). This could affect calculations for hourly paid staff or annual bonus payments. The original consultation also proposed that employers must publish their data by 30 April 2018 but this now appears to be 4 April 2018.
As the Government has not yet issued its response to its consultation for private employers, or the finalised regulations, we are still awaiting clarity on this issue.
