EBA publishes perimeter opinion: EBA has published an Opinion it has prepared for the Commission, that addresses how different Member States interpret the term "credit institution". EBA says this is because EU legislation does not define key important terms such as "deposit". It says it is not sure whether national differences in interpretation lead to different regulatory treatment of a material number of institutions but says the Commission should publish clarifications anyway. It also notes that Member States vary significantly in how they treat institutions that engage in credit intermediation. The Opinion annexes a useful table showing key interpretative differences between Member States. (Source: EBA Publishes Perimeter Opinion)
