On November 13, 2015, Spain signed its accession to the Protocol on Matters Specific to Aircraft Equipment (the "Protocol") of the Convention relative to international interests in mobile equipment, in Cape Town (the "Convention").14 Spain's accession to the Protocol means its definitive incorporation to the Cape Town system regarding secured financing transactions on aircraft equipment.

The declarations formulated by Spain to the Protocol include the designation of the Chattel Registry (Registro de Bienes Muebles) as the access point that will authorize the transfer to the International Registry of any information necessary for identification  of aircraft or helicopters registered in Spain.

The Protocol (and the Convention) will take effect on March 1, 2016.
