Amendments have been proposed to the draft Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings (published in November 2008) which would see all new buildings in the EU built to source all the energy they needed from on-site renewable energy technologies. The draft Directive, including the proposed amendments, will be considered by the EU Council of Ministers later this summer. We will report further on the proposals following the Council's debate.
