The President today announced that the United States will ease its prohibitions on the export of financial services to and new investment in Burma. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today separately announced that the United States is "suspending sanctions" against Burma. Secretary Clinton also said in more concrete terms that the United States will (i) keep "on the books" all legislation and executive authorities related to U.S. sanctions against Burma, (ii) issue a general license to permit U.S. export of financial services to and U.S. investment in Burma and (iii) maintain the U.S. arms embargo against Burma.

We now wait suspended for more details.
