EP’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) has drafted reports on the proposed delays for the recast Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID 2), the corresponding regulation (MiFIR), the Market Abuse Regulation (EU MAR) and the regulation on central securities depositories (CSDR). The rapporteur expresses disappointment that delays by the Commission and ESMA mean the necessary implementing legislation is not available. Because of this, though, it is justified and sensible, he says, to delay all implementation dates of the MiFID 2 package and corresponding legislation by one year. As a result, Member States would have to have in place appropriate transposition measures by July 2017. (Source: ECON drafts report on MiFID 2 delays and ECON report on MiFIR, EU MAR and CSDR delays)
