The FSC amended the "Regulation governing Permission of Insurance Business Transactions and Investments between the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area" on November 5, 2014.  The main amendments include: 1. allowing Taiwanese insurers in the Mainland Area to engage in the operation of claims management, and to consult on loss prevention and control issues, as well as other insurance related businesses approved by the FSC; 2. amending the application requirement for Taiwanese insurers wishing to engage in the insurance businesses now allowed on the mainland; 3. defining the criteria required of Taiwanese insurers that wish to establish a branch or subsidiary in the mainland Area; and 4.defining the Taiwanese insurers who are qualified to invest in the equity securities of mainland insurance companies.
