EPC and the Cards Stakeholders Group (CSG) have updated the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) cards standardisation volume. It contains a standard set of requirements to ensure an interoperable and scalable card and terminal infrastructure across SEPA, based on open international card standards. This version extends the scope of the cards standardisation volume. It includes new guidance on:

  • functional and security requirements applicable to card-not-present  payments;
  • a cards processing framework which defines business principles and requirements for market access and participation in card payment processing services; and
  • additional requirements and modifications reflecting the CSG’s analysis of the impact of certain provisions of the IFR.
