Yesterday, the Dutch Parliament adopted the emergency "repair" act that will facilitate the construction of an offshore electricity grid and the development of offshore wind farms.
The emergency act contains relevant provisions that facilitate the construction of wind farms at sea and was submitted by Minister Kamp of Economic Affairs as a "remedial act" following the rejection of the Dutch Senate in December 2015 of the comprehensive legislative proposal, the STROOM-package (see our client alerts dated 9 February 2016 and 30 January 2016 for previous updates).
The emergency act will now be submitted to the Senate. Minister Kamp has urged the Senate to act expediently in order to avoid further delays to the Borssele II tenders planned this year.
The Senate will decide on how to proceed on 1 March 2016.
