FATF has published the results of its latest plenary meeting. The key deliverables were:

  • confirmation of jurisdictions with significant failings in their anti-money laundering (AML)/counter-terrorist financing (CFT) laws. Iran and North Korea remain the jurisdictions subject to countermeasures. The countries on the list that have not made sufficient progress are Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam and Yemen;
  • a summary of FATF’s work with several other jurisdictions that are working on improvements to their laws; and
  • publishing three new reports on trends in money laundering.
