Yesterday the main associations operating in the Italian digital market (DMA Italia, Fedoweb, IAB Italia, Netcomm and UPA) presented with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) the “cookie implementation toolkit”. The toolkit will be of help to assist the operators in the implementation of the new rules on cookies, which will come into force on 3 June (see also here).

The toolkit sets some examples of short and long form information notice (with some suggested wording), in accordance with the two-layers approach set out by the Italian Data Protection Authority. It also sets some practical alternatives on how to manage the users’ consent and related obligations. For those who wish to read a commentary in Italian, please also see here our post from L’Ora Legale.

As mentioned by the Data Protection Authority during the press conference for the presentation of the association’s toolkit,  once the deadline for the implementation is met, the Data Protection Authority will actively monitor compliance, so all operators that use cookies will have to be fully prepared.
