Spain - 20 months of imprisonment for unauthorized access to coworkers' emails An employee, who was an accountant at a cosmetics company, being already off work, illegitimately accessed emails of various co-workers from a computer outside the company, but with an IP address associated with his landline number. A case was brought against said employee in Criminal Court 2 of Murcia, which charged him with the crime of hacking. The Provincial Court of Murcia confirmed the decision of Criminal Court No. 2 of Murcia, which sentenced the employee to 20 months of imprisonment and further disqualification from passive suffrage during the same period of time, for "continued illegal access to data or computer software", also known as "hacking", an offence punishable under article 197.3 in conjunction with article 74 of the Spanish Criminal Code.
