The Dutch Minister of Finance has provided input to the European Commission as part of a consultation on the application of the Directive on acquisitions and increase of holdings in the financial sector. The Minister emphasises that the Netherlands would like to explicitly test the macro-prudential aspect of proposed acquisitions and takeovers in the financial sector. This will allow a more effective assessment of the risks posed to the financial system as a whole.
