The Board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions announced that it will seek to enhance data collection by securities regulators related to the use of derivatives by and leverage and liquidity of open-ended collective investment schemes and the use of leverage by and derivatives exposure of separately managed accounts. Separately the Financial Stability Board issued recommendations for regulatory initiatives related to what it considers to be “asset management structural vulnerabilities.” These vulnerabilities include the liquidity mismatch between open-ended funds’ investment assets and redemption terms and leverage within funds. Comments will be accepted through September 21.
