The MoJ has confirmed that Rock Law Ltd has been fined a record sum for coercing clients into signing contracts and taking unauthorised payments. The fine follows the £220,000 fine issued in August 2015 against The Hearing Clinic after complaints by members of the public who received speculative calls about claims for noise induced hearing loss. The fines proceed from the change of law in December 2014 that introduced financial penalties for breach of conduct rules. Penalties now include fines of up to 20% of annual turnover and removal or suspension of trading licenses. New figures show that 105 claims firms have had their licences removed since 2014.
