Thirteen internet dating sites have been given three months to rectify their data protection law abuses after being reprimanded by the French DPA (CNIL). The CNIL issued reprimands following a number of site raids of the owners' premises, stating that the sites failed to properly inform the data users of their rights regarding gaining access, deletion and rectification of the data they provided. Furthermore, the CNIL stated that the sites failed to adequately explain how cookies will be deposited on users' computers. The thirteen companies may be subject to fines if they fail to make the improvements within the allocated time limit.
