Medical screening will be transferrable

From 1 April 2015, the Labour Code is to be amended and the requirement for pre-employment medical checks relaxed.

New recruits who find new employment within 30 days of leaving their previous employer, will be exempt from usual pre-employment medical screening requirements, providing they can disclose an up-to-date medical certificate to the new employer. The existing certificate must confirm there are no contra-indications to their working under the conditions for which it was provided and the new employer must be able to verify those conditions remain applicable to the new position. This exception will not apply to those undertaking particularly hazardous work.

Prior to this being introduced in April, interim provisions state that the existing requirement for medical certificates will continue to apply, including for those referred for medical examination up until 31 March 2015.

Rise in statutory minimum pay

From 1 January 2015, the minimum wage has risen to PLN 1,750 (gross). There was a corresponding rise in certain benefits paid by the employer that are calculated by a reference to the minimum wage, for example allowances for night time work.
