Ralph Lauren is currently the defendant in two different patent infringement claims in the US.

In the first, the claimant is an individual who owns two US patents for "electronic accessory systems" which light up and can be used to charge electronic devices. These are infringed, he claims, by the newest version of Ralph Lauren's Ricky bag, which includes an LED light and a USB port. The second case concerns Ralph Lauren's Polo Tech shirt which was designed for the US open. Sarvint Technologies, Inc., a wearable technology company, claims that Ralph Lauren's Polo Tech shirt infringes their Smart Shirt as both garments include sensors which read biological and physiological information.
