The European Commission (Commission) has approved the provision of public funding of five airports in the Tuscany region. The funding will be used to help support the aim of creating an integrated regional airport system through investment in the safety and viability of the air transport infrastructure. After examining the measure, the Commission decided that the scheme fell within the scope of the Community's 2005 guidelines on the financing of airports.
