On May 14, 2015, the B.C. Societies Act, created under Bill 24, received royal assent. The new law is expected to have implications for extraprovincial non-share corporations. In particular, once the new legislation is in force, an extraprovincial non-share corporation must extraprovincially register in B.C. within 60 days after it begins to carry on activities in B.C.
The new Societies Act is expected to come into force by regulation in fall 2016.
