In a speech to the Civil Liberties Committee of the EU Parliament (LIBE),Věra Jourová, the EU Commissioner for Justice (the Commissioner), Consumers and Gender Equality, referred to the Schrems ruling acting as a "reminder to swiftly finalise the ongoing trilogies on the data protection reform."
The Commissioner expressed her gratitude for the progress made so far and her optimism for the conclusion of the discussions before the end of 2015, confident that the "agreements reached in trilogues will ensure the effective protection of individuals as regards their personal data, and equip businesses to take full advantage of the opportunities of the digital economy."
