January saw Ohio’s four casinos experience a 1.1% increase in revenues over a year ago. Racino revenues were up 9.4%.
Hollywood Toledo, which has been the most consistent performer among the casinos over the past several months, experienced the greatest increase. Its revenues of $15.3 million were a 6.8% increase over last year. The only other casino with an increase was Horseshoe Cincinnati, with revenues of $15.4 million, a 1.1% increase. Hollywood Columbus had the highest revenue in January. The $17.4 million, however, represented a 2.2% decrease in revenues from a year ago. Horseshoe Cleveland was down .3%, with revenues of $17.3 million.
Six of the state’s seven racinos saw increases in revenue over a year ago. Belterra Park had the greatest increase. Revenues of $5.8 million were up 18.9% over last year. Other racinos experiencing double digit percentage increases were Hollywood Mahoning at 16.4% ($8 million) and Hard Rock at 16.2% ($18.1 million). Miami Valley Gaming was up 8.8% ($10.5 million), Scioto Downs 7.5% ($11.7 million) and Hollywood Dayton 7.2% ($6.7 million). The only racino with a decline in revenue over last year was Thistledown. Revenues of $8 million were down from the 8.5%.
