OCC has published its final decision in relation to a complaint in which a consumer had no recourse to compensation in relation to certain unregulated activities of an authorised firm. A consumer alleged loss that related to an employee share scheme. OCC agreed with FCA that the activity fell outside the scope of regulated activities and that therefore FCA did not have power to include it within the relevant scheme coverage. However, OCC wants FCA to consider whether there should be a requirement on authorised firms to provide a clear indication to consumers on when they will not be covered by FOS and FSCS. FCA has updated its complaints webpage to include OCC reports to date. (Source: OCC asks FCA for firms to indicate FOS and FSCS customer coverage)
