On 4 March 2015 the European Commission opened the annual call for proposals (Call) under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to help finance key trans-European energy infrastructure projects.
CEF is a multi-annual funding programme set up to finance improvements in Europe's transport, energy and digital networks. With an overall budget of close to EUR 33 billion covering the three sectors, EUR 5.85 billion has been allocated to energy for the period of 2014-2020.
To be eligible for financial support under the CEF, projects must first be included in the list of projects of common interest (PCIs). The full list of projects by country, first published in October 2013, can be accessed via the following link:
For this Call, EUR100 million will be made available for projects aimed at ending energy isolation, eliminating energy bottlenecks and to complete the European energy market. The deadline for applications is 29 April 2015.
This is the first of two calls planned for 2015, a total of €650 million for grants being foreseen in 2015.
