On April 26, 2016, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) released its latest Monthly Complaints Snapshot, which highlights complaints received from consumers related to mortgages. This Monthly Snapshot also examines complaints received from consumers in California.

With regard to mortgage complaints received, the CFPB notes that it has received more than 220,000 complaints regarding mortgages. Moreover, common complaints the CFPB found included: problems consumers faced when making payments on their mortgage; confusion over mortgage loan transfers; and communication problems with mortgage servicers.
